Why we do what we do
Animals have always been our passion, with a diverse background from shrimp to horses. We always strived to create the best environment we could for our animals. We found that the trust and relationship that forms between an animal and a human is unique, and sometimes the best there is. Headfirst we went, wallet out the window for all animals.
That special connection is what we strove for; How each animal could appreciate you differently and teach you something different.
We started working for a local pet store company. We quickly fell in love with how much we could help pet parents create a special bond with their animals.
The deeper we got into the dog world, the more we heard of a wide range of kennel experiences from pet parents, friends, family, and coworkers. We quickly realized that children's day care toys, treats, and other material items can only meet a dog’s needs for so long. Dogs require much more than the traditional "sardine cells". We are handling canines with drive needing socialization, access outside at their discretion 24/7, scent stimulation, physical exercise, mental challenges, and confidence-building, social/human set boundaries, and much more.
Upon recognizing the fundamentals that most training and kennel facilities simply lack or subject dogs to, we understood that we could not find honest, comprehensive support for pet parents in addressing their dogs' needs.
The significance of these animals to their owners inspired us to establish The Balanced Bark Training. Our passion became reality when we acquired a property that would facilitate the realization of our vision and provide the necessary space to adequately address the needs and desires of pet parents.
We strive to help give pet owners the opportunity to have healthy outlets for their dogs that they can enjoy with them. Our goal is to make your bond with your dog stronger and build confidence within it.
Our history
Marissa is a CGC Certified trainer with six years of experience specializing in positive reinforcement training. She has trained a diverse range of dog breeds and helped lots of dogs stay in their homes. Throughout her professional career, she has addressed various behavioral issues. Moreover, Marissa and Ty volunteered at local animal rescues, where they had the opportunity to foster many dogs that were more challenging to place in family homes. Through her fostering work and continuous education in dog training, she has developed her distinct training style and methods. Complemented by Ty's education and ongoing passion for wildlife psychology.
Our training focuses on:
- Positive reinforcement techniques
- Impulse Control
- Clear structure and consistency
- Building trust and confidence
- Real-world applicability
- Education for owners — not just dogs
Training encompasses not only the dog but also the pet owner. Our objective is to create an engaging training experience that fosters a deeper connection between pets and their owners. While we derive great satisfaction from working with dogs and witnessing their growth in confidence and security, our ultimate delight lies in observing the harmonious collaboration between dogs and their owners.
